Use “MotifMix support” in the subject. We aim to respond within three business days, although complex issues may take longer.

Helpful details to include

  • what you were trying to do and the steps immediately before the issue;
  • the exact error shown in the MotifMix panel;
  • your Canva design type, browser, operating system, and approximate time of the issue; and
  • whether retrying in a new Canva design changes the result.
Protect your account: never email passwords, authentication tokens, private design links or source artwork. We will ask for a safe diagnostic method if more information is required.

Common questions

How do I use images already in Canva?

Add raster images to a fixed-size Canva page, select one or more of them, open MotifMix, and choose Add selection. SVG, GIF and video selections are not supported in the current version.

Which local image formats are supported?

You can choose PNG, JPEG and WebP files. Transparent PNG or WebP images generally produce the most natural motif outlines. Up to 12 source images can be used in one pattern.

Why did the result not reach my requested density?

Some combinations of large motifs, spacing and rotation cannot fit the requested area without overlap. MotifMix may tighten the preferred gap and reports the actual visible coverage after generation. Try a smaller scale, lower gap or a different source-frequency mix.

Why are some edge elements grouped?

An element crossing a tile edge needs matching copies on the opposite edge to remain seamless. MotifMix groups those copies so you can move the group together. Ungrouping and moving only one copy will break the repeat.

Which Canva design types work?

MotifMix is designed for unlocked, fixed-size pages. Responsive Canva Docs and unbounded whiteboards are not supported in the current version.

What are the current free limits?

The current limit is 20 successful generations per Canva user per UTC day, with up to two active jobs, 12 sources per job and 250 output elements. Failed generations do not consume the daily generation allowance.

What should I try if the panel is blank or stops responding?

Close and reopen MotifMix, then retry in the same design. If that does not work, reload the Canva editor and open the App again. Include your browser and approximate time when reporting a recurring issue.
